IPS Officers Statement on Discrimination and Racism

The officers of the IPS are committed to diversity and equity in primatology and condemn all forms of prejudice and discrimination. We recognise that we have substantial work to do to address the systemic racism that Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour primatologists face as our colleagues, students, and educators; as well as the impact our field has on BIPOC communities around the world, including where our work was built on a foundation of colonialism.

One step in our ongoing commitment to addressing inequality in the creation of the new position of Vice President for Ethics, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, which IPS members approved in our constitution and by-laws revisions in 2019 and who will take office at our next Congress in 2021. We look forward to the work we have to do.
