New International Center of Biodiversity and Primate Conservation in China
The new ICBPC is housed at Dali University, Yunnan Province, and run through Dali University (Wen Xiao, Professor and Director of Institute of Eastern-Himalaya Biodiversity Research) and Northwest University (Baoguo Li, Professor and President of the Chinese Primatological Society). The ICBPC aims to work with regional and home-country scientists, conservation organizations, government officials, the media, educators, and the public to preserve, protect, and restore natural habitats and threatened wild animals and plants. All proposed conservation-related projects and actions, and financial management of the Center are reviewed by the Executive Committee, which consists of a highly respected board of international conservation scientists and experts from the USA (Paul Garber, Colin Chapman, and Karen Strier), the UK (Samuel Turvey), Australia (Cyril Grueter, Charles Oxnard, and Ruliang Pan), Brazil (Júlio César Bicca-Marques), Mexico (Alejandro Estrada), and China (Simba Zhou).
